The ground floor of Koerner Library was redesigned from alumni office space and a quiet study lab to a new, open student study space/lounge. There was minimal new architectural elements required for the project. Instead the majority of this project was focused on how to organize and divide space using furniture plans and the existing column structure. It also required a lot of millwork and a custom designed fireplace to anchor the space, which used hand-cast concrete tiles.

This project gave me the opportunity to work with the different consultants especially the electrical engineer and the interior designer. Many issues arose with the electrical and data wiring, requiring very precise locating for coring. Overall this project has given me a new respect for detailing and especially millwork design.
