Drawing on Persian, Ottoman and Byzantine influences we extracted a elegant and contemporary style that stays true to the region’s roots. Inspired by the cubist lines of Mies van der Rohe’s brick country house and work by Luis Barragán, who’s minimalist style and use of colour are referenced in the arrangement of layered cubes and bright blue water. The pure white masses are part of the great tradition of the Turkish coastal cities, including the old city of Izmir with traditional whitewash architecture and Bodrum’s hills hanging houses. The bleached wood moucharabieh allow light to filter through while providing shade and a sense of privacy.
